The current Astrail Alpha is free to play. Approved commanders can access training, synthetic fleets, private rooms, public matches, progression and the live strategy board without buying a game client.
That free access comes with an honest trade-off: Astrail is still in active development. Features can evolve, progress may eventually be reset with notice, and access is released in manageable waves rather than opened without capacity controls.

Is Astrail free to play?+
Yes. The current Astrail Alpha is free for approved players. Future commercial plans have not been announced.
Do I need to download Astrail?+
No. Astrail runs in a supported modern desktop browser with WebGL 2 and hardware acceleration.
Can free players use private multiplayer?+
Approved Astrail players can create and join private rooms during the current Alpha.
Will Alpha progress always be permanent?+
Progress is attached to the approved account during Alpha. If a reset becomes necessary, Astrail will announce it before it happens.
